1/24/2024 0 Comments Yelp mexican food carmel valleyI work in the area, and decided to try Kathy's for a second time in hopes that it had just been an off day the first time I went. For the amount of food you get, I would definitely say it's overpriced as well. The two chile rellenos it came with were very small and had little cheese in them, and the sauce it came with was unfortunately mild and bland, as was the rice (honestly maybe the most flavorless spanish rice i've had out many). The first time I visited Kathy's, I tried their chile relleno plate. Staff needs a little more training on picking up on customer queues. We had 2 tables of 10 people - everyone felt distracted by having to deny wine refills.įood was lovely and unique. If I reject an offer for more wine once, twice, three times, it should be more than clear that I'm done.unless I initiate again. Some would consider this a good thing, but for a classy restaurant, my expectations are that staff should see and know the needs of their customers. I have one complaint: the staff were extremely focused on refilling our glasses of wine. I had no prior knowledge of Roux, but being a New Orleans native, I had minor expectations of French cuisine to grace the table, but we were surprised with bold flavors and dishes outside the anticipated french norm conjured by the name "roux". Either we tasted the entire menu, or a special one for our event, but there was a wide variety of textures and flavors. Each one was unique and flavorful, however there didn't seem to be a theme. Crab cakes, seared salmon, veggie paella, fingerling potatoes. We arrived, we're greeted and seated by the chef and staff. We went to Roux for a private event recently so I'm not certain that our experience is the standard. Our experience here was mixed, but overall great.
